Bhiwani Zoo

The Bhiwani Zoo is situated between the longitude E 75˚ 28‘ and N 28˚ 19’ to 29˚ 5 latitudes. This zoo was inaugurated with the aim to acquire conservation education and also awareness generation and also to establish healthy relationships between human beings and animals. The Bhiwani zoo is located on the road to the city railway station, opposite to Mini Secretariat of Bhiwani. It comes under the municipal limits of the Bhiwani town which is approximately about 2 km from the Bhiwani Railway Station and about 4 km from the Bhiwani bus stand. This Bhiwani zoo is well linked with major cities like Jaipur, Chandigarh, Delhi and other major cities.


History

Earlier the Haryana State Government decided to close this zoo, but because of Mrs Kiran Choudhary, then Forest Minister of Haryana, this zoo got its revival. Central Zoo Authority then revived this zoo in the month of September 2006. With the target of modernization and delivering the best-in-class facility to animals present in this zoo, they carried out various works inside this zoo. It included the renovation of the Hippo enclosure, building an animal treatment and post-mortem room, building new enclosures for deer, gharials, foxes, tigers and leopards; and aviaries for different bird species.

The zoo is also home to climbers like Trumpet flower, Rangoon creeper and Ashoka trees. Apart from these, there are also various other fruits and fodder trees like Pilkhan, Barh, Mulberry and Jandi in the park in an attempt to deliver a feeling of natural scenery to animals.

The animals and birds that are found in Bhiwani zoo include - Tiger, Leopard, Hippopotamus, Spotted Deer, Fox, Black Bear, Gharial, Crocodile, Barn owl, Java Sparrow, Love bird, Budgerigar, Cockatiel, Silver Pheasant and Red Jungle Fowl.

Tariff and Timings

The zoo is open to the public between 9 am and 6 pm during the summer season, and during the winter season, it is open between 9 am and 5 pm. The entry tickets for adults in INR 10 whereas for children, they charge INR 5 per child who is between the age group of 5 and 12 years.

Visitor Information

Apart from the zoo, there are many places to visit nearby. The list includes Shiv Mandir, Baba Johdi Wala, Shiv Temple, Baba Lakshman temple, Baba Paramhansa temple and many more. Apart from temples, there are many shopping destinations like Mama Chander, Lohad Bazaar, Rajpoot Market, Naya Bazaar, and Huda Market. The zoo carries all basic amenities for its visitors including an uninterrupted water facility, public toilets and R.O water purifiers and water coolers. They also made sanitary facilities, resting sheds, a Children's park and sitting arrangements for their visitors.

The closest railway station is the Bhiwani railway station junction which is about 3 km from the zoo.
